Maybe it's not so dark or creepy, sister T.
It depends on one's point of view.
Here's mine...

Sure, I can get and am "addicted" to my computer and so on, but years ago something came to me about all these technological/medical advances/etc. that made me pause:

We have no problem accepting advances in these areas at geometric progressive rates--we're almost blase about it. The other day, I saw that they've successfully created the first semiconductor that is... 1 atom in size. Yes, 1 atom. It's got a ways to go but the implications could be widespread, from computers to medicine.

And yet in terms of religion, sexuality, politics, culture, etc. we still seem to cling to old parchments as "what works" or "what is real" - in terms of the stuff that really matters most -- our self-identity, our connections and relation with others and life around us. Religions are perhaps the most obvious of these clinging.

These trends or trajectories seems almost diametrically opposed--or at least way out of sync. One is almost effortlessly expanding into areas that even a decade ago seemed inconceivable, the other plods along at stubbornly antiquated rate.

But what if what we are actually collectively teasing ourselves through what we seem to be able to accomplish in the material world of technology as hints at what we are capable of being-doing on those other more central, more essential levels?

That is, we are still too afraid to overturn or free ourselves from the eons of soul-dogma but since there is only one way forward -- expansion -- we are showing ourselves our eventual soul potential of geometric progressions through all of this technology? Sort of existential sneak-peeks.

In one sense, I've kind of stumbled into some of this with journey with this Metta-sensual thing I call "compassion sensuality" where I have chosen to explore and perhaps even sense that sexual joys can have a soul-potential that are still caught up in either the dogmatic areas or procreative ones. Or even "just" the pleasure ones. What if there is actually levels of service or prayer in it that can benefit all of us any time we let it flow through us?

The way it first dawned on me was about 20 years ago where I thought,"What if another level of sex is not just the creation of a physical child but of a kind of 'Christ child' -- a field of loving consciousness within our collective us or Us? That every loving act of sex would add one more star to the galaxy of all past, present and future intentions, thoughts, words and actions of love -- whatever their form?"

Am I nuts, just imagining this or... is this another sneek peek?
I prefer to err on the side of cautious optimism and not grandiosity.

But what if something like that would really be possible? It could transform sex into something so stunningly beautiful while keeping all the other attributes and joys it can bring.

And here is the irony for me: it is the above perspective on the technological quantum leaps that give me some comfort or intuition or whatever that my particular outside-the-box experience of my sexuality may not ultimately be that nutty.

In other words, "If 1-atom semi-conductors or 1-molecule steam engines (yes, they've done that too) can come into being through our seemingly limited human-ness, then why not this level of sex? BUT more important still, why not our levels of perception, experience, expression and interaction on or as souls or whatever we want to call it? That could change everything on the most fundamental level."

If so, whoa Nelly--we Is in for quite a ride ahead, sister T.
One could almost call it divine :)

Shaving is soooo overrated. It was a short, cute novelty in the early 80's. Although I love the female form I've never been a breast, leg or foot worshipper. I'm a yoni/ass man all the way. I love a full bush from the front to the back. Not too neatly trimmed but not hanging out of a bikini either.
Ms. Bernard is correct that women should have a whiff of musk, but just a whiff. Too pungent an odor could reveal an uncleanly infection. But the hair holds wonderfully musky smells and tastes. It's exciting to explore with my tongue and lips, gently pulling, rubbing and licking the hair and labia. Searching the folds and creases hidden behind it's covering. All the while, tickling my mouth, tongue, nose and chin. Hair around a clean anal region is a bonus.
Armpit hair is also very sexy. Clean yet free or deodorants and lotions it can be a huge turn on when a man kisses, licks and gently pulls the hair with the mouth. My wife reaches multiple orgasms quickly when performed during intercourse.
Thank you ladies for standing up and throwing the razors down!

Ah, thank you Sarah. It's always heartening to me as a writer when I read that I've been able to help someone else in their journey. Truth is, I've learned most stuff the hard way myself. Ain't that the way it goes...sigh.

Thank YOU Kimberley. I appreciate that quote because it goes to the heart of how there's a difference between certain religious philosophies and the practice of them.

What is that gorgeous work of art at the top of this article??? I'm mesmerized by the drape and cling of the fabric! I want a print of this for my bedroom! :-)

As for the article itself, it inspired me to reacquaint myself with a Ghandi quote: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Thank you for doing your part to undo the damage done by an unfortunately misogynistic religion. :-)

Ah, this post strikes a chord. I so recognise myself as one of those people who feel more comfortable in giving pleasure than receiving it. Exploring this before I have a lover again will be the cleverest thing to do I guess ;o)

Sarah - you caught me red handed asking something that in hindsight could have been phrased far more eloquently. With that said, you answered it very eloquently from a personal perspective. I think, socially and culturally, the question, as asked in its current form, goes to how society pigeon holes us and our sexuality.

I don't know that the question 'is one form of sexual love relating more advance than another' is one I've ever considered.

My initial reaction was, that question feels a bit like saying 'These breasts are better than those breasts." Bullshit.

I don't think that sexual love relationships have changed that much at all in a long, longggg time. It's just our awareness of what others are doing is coming much more out in the open and those relationships get judged by the current society 'norms' and even worse, religious dogmata.

What are my feelings?

That if people in relationships can be truly open and honest and are willing to share their hearts, heads, fears and dreams, the good bits and the goddam gnarly ugly bits, then how magic that relationship will be. In whatever form.

And not just do it once, but continue to do it. Over and over. For humans are fluid creatures and if they are truly living, not just existing, they are growing and evolving, emotionally and spiritually as well as physically.

To the question of would I ever want a poly relationship situation?

No.

Serial monogamy all the way for me *lol*.
Or maybe I should never say never.. hmmm..

Nicely done. Always great to read messages of green love and sex. You might enjoy our Ecosex Manifesto. You can find it at sexecology.org. It covers some aspects you don't mention as far as what green sex can be. What about the eroticism and sensuality and sexual pleasures of nature? Just a thought. Ecosexuals unite! xxx
